Our Take: There is no doubt that Elepaq has carved out a name for itself in the generator business in Nigeria. This particular generator boasts of 12.0KVA starting capacity though I dare say you should be more concerned about the running capacity of 11.5kva. This generator like others in its class is a single-phase generator, meaning it will generate just one positive output line; don’t worry except you have a factory in your flat, this is mostly adequate. Using the 220v used in Nigeria, this generator is capable of supplying about 55 Amps. That is a lot of capacity and this generator is not for a typical three-bedroom flat. Most of the uses will mostly be for commercial purposes. This is an Uncle to the 4.5Kva version.
In terms of load, 55A roughly translates to three 40-inch TV, 12 power-saving bulbs, four 1-HP AC, three 2-HP ACs, two large refrigerators, and other smaller appliances like your chargers and laptop; this will get your generator to about 70% capacity. Note the running your generator at the full capacity continuously will reduce the life span, increase the frequency of required service, and increase fuel consumption. A 25L tank should run for at least 10 hours at 50% load.
The fact that it comes with tires makes it easy for it to be rolled back in after use just in case you are not comfortable leaving it outside. I always advise to go for a Key Start generator if budget is not a problem, this eliminates the practice of waiting for someone to use the recoil start while the house is in darkness. The recoil start is a reliable backup in case the battery goes bad; it hardly does. The generator also has a socket to charge your car battery.
